Cape WhiteWater Club in Cape Town

Cape Town is a place in South Africa where almost all activities and adventures tours take place. Another interesting part of Cape Town is the Cape Whitewater Club. This club provides a platform for river rafting as a sport activity.

In case you are new to river rafting, it is a sport whereby the natural flow of the water is used to travel from one end of the river to another with the help of a canoe. This whitewater club is very popular in Cape Town not only among the locals, but also among many tourists who love adventurous sports.

These rafting clubs not only support those who already know about rafting, but also encourage and trains amateurs. There are special training programs to teach lessons about the importance of using correct harness and about other essential things which are necessary for a person to undertake a sport activity like river rafting.

Also, there are institutes like the Whitewater Kayak School and Guide Training Center which provides training to people in river rafting. This particular institution has been doing this business since 1996.

There are several rivers wherein rafting takes places. These rivers are often shallow water bodies. River Orange in Richtersveld is one such example of a river where rafting activity takes place. River Orange is the longest watercourse in South Africa and it stretches for 2200kms from Drakensberg Mountain to the Atlantic Ocean.

Another river where rafting takes place is the Vaal river in Gauteng. This river is the longest tributary of River Orange and stretches up to 1120kms. Um komaas River in KwaZulu Natal stretches from Drakensberg to the Indian Ocean. The river rafting starts at a point known as Hella Hella.

Other rivers where river rafting takes place are Palmiet in Western Cape, Buffalo in KwaZulu Natal, White Nile , Zambezi, Thrombi, etc.
