Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden - Roodepoort, Johannesburg, Gauteng

Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden is a spectacular region situated by the Witpoortjie waterfall that covers 300 hectares of beautiful natural veld areas in Roodepoort and it was founded in 1982. The garden is a popular escape with its beautiful surroundings, indigenous plants and animals and wonderful picnic opportunities.

The botanical garden is known as one of the best picnic areas in
Johannesburg, Gauteng.

There are more than 600 species of plants as well as the Rocky Highveld Grassland that consists of a mosaic of a grassland and savanna.

The garden is also home to more than 220 species of birds and wildlife that include the endangered Black Eagle.

To access the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens, you should get onto Hendrik Potgieter from N1 at the exit 80 of the Roodepoort/M8 14th Ave and then following the signs of Tarlton (M47) to the north. After passing the Pass Clearwater mall you should turn left into Handicap Road and then right into Malcolm Road that you will see the signs for the gardens.
